Shoe Sale all weekend. 1/29-1/31 Gravis, Adidas, Globe, Fallen

January 28th, 2010

The Dylan Lo, which might have been the most anticipated, hyped and controversial pro shoe in skateboarding history, is now on sale at DKD. Most of us had a quick glimpse of this one during Dylan’s part in Mind Field. But many, like myself, didn’t imagine it was his pro model he was skating in. I just thought he was a bit of a lunatic who didn’t mind skating in dress shoes. But as it turns out, Dylan Reider’s first shoe is a dress shoe and it’s fully skateable.Honestly, holding these slip-ons in my hands, I couldn’t imagine anyone skating in them, based solely on how much they resembled items reserved for weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, Dance-offs and that type of thing. However, I shit you not, these things are comfy as hell. It’s deceiving, really, but 100% true. When I put these on, it felt like I were wearing reinforced slippers. My next, task was to see exactly how they skated. They were grippy and featured and internal cushioning that was complimented by the cozy premium leather upper (with reinforced ollie and toe area for extrasturdiness). The shoe felt great and didn’t need much breaking in for me to feel my board.  ON SALE AT DKD THIS WEEKEND. 49.95.  THAT’S LESS THAN HALF PRICE…  DYLAN MIDS ON SALE TOO.  see below

SALE ON RVCA (get it right, people, it’s pronounced ROO’kah. You don’t have to spell it out to say it!)

TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT ON DR. KING’S LEGACY OF CIVIL RIGHTS

January 18th, 2010

martin-luther-king-21 Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States, and he has become a human rights icon,  and remains a prominent figure in U.S. history.   In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discriminationthrough civil disobedience and other non-violent means. An assassin’s bullet cut him down in Memphis in April 1968.  He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 and Congressional Gold Medal in 2004; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established as a U.S. national holiday in 1986.

Take a moment to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of civil rights and non-violent protest.
